Nasreen Awal Mintu, Founder President of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh (WEB), wants smooth implementation of the government-announced incentive package to overcome the epidemic coronavirus crisis in the coming 2021-22 national budget. "The smooth implementation of the incentive package is essential," she said. But women entrepreneurs in the small and medium sector, with whom the bank has no relationship, are being deprived of incentives. I want special allocation in the coming budget for these women entrepreneurs. If possible, women entrepreneurs should be assisted with direct financial assistance like in other countries,”said Nasreen Awal Mintu, the founding president of the WEAB, while talking to Bangladesh Pratidin yesterday. She said the government needs to increase spending to revive and revive women-friendly businesses. This will encourage women entrepreneurs to invest. Demand for goods and services will increase. Employment will be boosted. Small capital entrepreneurs are not able to turn around like big capital entrepreneurs. This can lead to inequality. The issue should be taken seriously in the coming budget. For this, banks have to be brought under special programs and incentive packages have to be implemented. If necessary, the incentive system of the bank needs to be reformed.
She said the budget needs to be formulated in a creative, precise and realistic manner with a view to reviving the country's economy. Women entrepreneurs need to assess the losses. Must have special facilities and directions. Financial assistance will have to be provided to women entrepreneurs who have been forced to close their businesses due to Corona. I want to take steps to launch e-commerce portal to overcome the crisis. Again, women entrepreneurs who have lost business in Corona have to make arrangements for employment. The founding president of the WEAB said that 10 to 15 per cent land should be allotted in the special economic zone for women entrepreneurs affected in Corona. For the Women entrepreneurs, need to fix the corporate tax of the organization at 20 percent. In case of turnover, VAT and TAX up to Tk 60 lakh should be waived.
Tax at the source of the product or service must be waived. Special tax facility has to be given for import of raw materials. Marketing outlets need to be set up for women entrepreneurs outside Dhaka. They need security and insurance. Nasreen Awal Mintu said, ‘Women entrepreneurs need to be allocated special budgets for linking programs with public and private enterprises. I am demanding the establishment of a separate women's bank. Institutions run by women entrepreneurs should be listed on the capital market and maximum arrangements should be made to provide them loans. Bangladesh Bank should allocate at least 180 crore taka for women. Women entrepreneurs involved in exports should be given 10 percent incentive.
The Outbreak of COVID-19 affects sturdily to the CMSME Sector in Bangladesh. Around 80% CMSME women owned businesses got shut down and rest are in very vulnerable state. In the response of COVID-19 crisis, Women Entrepreneur Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) is supporting women and women CMSME sector in Bangladesh by given Food Relief, Financial aid and Sewing Machine to the vulnerable women entrepreneurs.
Please check out my article on how the Government of Bangladesh can help the SME women entrepreneurs that are suffering losses due to the ongoing lockdown because of coronavirus published in BD Pratidin online newspaper on 25th April 2019 https://www.bd-pratidin.com/last-page/2020/04/25/524087. The English translation is below:
Nasreen Awal Mintu, president of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh-WEAB, has demanded that the interest on bank loans be waived for at least a year to save millions of women entrepreneurs affected by the coronavirus crisis. He said that even small women entrepreneurs in rural areas are not getting relief. In such a situation, if women entrepreneurs from all over the country do not get help, the catastrophe will take a more terrible shape.
WEAB President Nasreen Awal Mintu said this while talking to Bangladesh Pratidin yesterday. She said all the affected women entrepreneurs have the right to the incentives announced by the Prime Minister. But the Ministry of Industry has not yet held any meeting with the organizations of women entrepreneurs. The incentives announced by the government must be ensured for all women entrepreneurs. Women entrepreneurs are now most at risk.
The leader of women entrepreneurs said that women entrepreneurs sit for Baishakh and two Eids throughout the year. Around this Eid, women entrepreneurs create products with a touch of artistry with their skillful hands. Medium women entrepreneurs make products with loans from banks. Not only products, but also in the service sector, many women entrepreneurs are now in dire straits by investing heavily. This time the products of women entrepreneurs made around Boishakh and Eid will be on display. Their capital will also be stuck. As a result, women entrepreneurs will not be able to do anything in the future due to lack of capital. The government and the banks should look at such a situation with sympathy.
In fact, the coronavirus has hit women entrepreneurs like other small and retail businesses, the WEAB president said. They are now lost. No one understands what to do. In such a situation, the affected women entrepreneurs should be given one year loan facility at zero interest, not 4 percent. This assistance will not only save women entrepreneurs, but will also play an important role in the economy.

Women today have got equal potential provided they are being trusted and valued. Today’s women realize their strengths and abilities and step out in order to contribute to the society and the world consequently.
Since childhood, I had a dream to work for women empowerment and entrepreneurship in Bangladesh, and after being inspired by my mother, spouse and my children, Women Entrepreneur Association of Bangladesh (WEAB) was established, whose goal was to provide a platform for women entrepreneurs in rural and grass-root level to develop themselves in different fields.

In conclusion, I feel that woman should be respected not just because they are women, but also because they are individuals with their own identity. They contribute equally to the betterment of the society. If I can be little biased then I would say, if there is no woman on the earth then mankind would cease to exist because it’s a woman who brings life to this earth. Every woman is special whether she is working at home or office or doing both. She plays an important role in the upbringing of children and managing their home efficiently.
Women power is incredible and cannot be expressed through few words.
Thank you!
